Giza
Giza sits on the west bank of the Nile, next to Cairo. It is famous for one of the most amazing sights on Earth: the Pyramids of Giza. The Great Pyramid of Khufu was built about 4,500 years ago, and it is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that still stands.
On the Giza Plateau, you can see the three great pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx, with the body of a lion and the head of a king. Ride a camel across the desert, go inside a pyramid, or enjoy the view from the Panorama Point. In the evening, the Sound and Light Show tells the story of the pharaohs.
Just next to the pyramids is the Grand Egyptian Museum, which fully opened in November 2025. It is the largest museum in the world for one civilization. Here you see the full Tutankhamun collection together for the first time, with his golden mask, plus a giant statue of Ramses II in the Grand Hall.
